Most of my back-end programming experience is building RESTful APIs using the Node.js runtime. I do have some experience with MVC pattern and server side templating,  but I tend to separate client and server in my own projects for the single page experience. Very interested in server side architecture going forward.

Using Express.js as a lightweight backend framework in Node.js.  Building REST APIs, or integrate with Apollo Server for GraphQL.
Comfortable using middleware, validations, handle authentication with sessions, cookies or JSON Web Tokens.

Using GraphQL queries and mutations on the frontend with Apollo Client. Currently building my first GraphQL API with Apollo Server and Express. Familiar with TypeGraphQL, and integrating with ORMs. Really enjoy working with TypeGraphQL for a type-safe backend.

My go-to SQL based database management system for Node.js APIs, if my data is highly relational. 

My first encounter with the SQL query language was interacting with MySQL through the command line. Learnt the basics of database design, relations, and writing my own queries.

Like for many junior developers, Mongo was my first experience with databases, using MongoDB Atlas. Spent time exploring Document database design, but I tend to gravitate towards SQL solutions, especially if my data is highly connected. Aside MQL, also familiar with Mongoose and TypeGoose ODM.',

First front-end library I worked with, my primary choice of building full stack web applications, JavaScript or TypeScript. I like extensibility and the massive number of community packages available. 

I am Familiar with hooks, context, reducers and Redux integration. I mostly use functional components and hooks syntax myself, but I have no issues working with Class based syntax if necessary. My usual way of testing React is Jest - React-Testing-Library, but happy to work with Enzyme if needed. 

Glorified To-do list, where you are rewarded with coins on task completion. You get to spend those on rewarding yourself. React Hooks and Context.

Rewards

I use Next.js for server side rendered, and statically generated websites with great performance. This portfolio is also a static site, generated by Next.js. 

State management library, based on functional programming principles. I use it with React in larger projects, where context and hooks are just not enough to keep the architecture clean, or need thunks for complex asynchronous code. 

My preferred way of writing more maintainable CSS code, helps structuring my stylesheets better in large projects. I use it mostly integrated into front-end frameworks and libraries. Currently transitioning to the Dart Sass syntax.

The second frontend framework I picked up after React, so I can appreciate it both for their merits, and have a better understanding on client side design. Happy to work with both Options or Composition API, familiar with routing, Vuex, and built in test-utils. Spent some time with Nuxt.js as well, but most of my active building was in the React ecosystem.

One of the most popular programming languages on the web, backbone of my stack, useful on both the front and backend. Recently I favour Typescript for own projects, but writing plenty of JavaScript.

Superset of JavaScript, my preferred way of writing more scalable, type safe code. I have experience with TypeScript - React, currently learning how to apply it with Node.js and Vue. 

Twist on the classic Rock-Paper-Scissors, my first project fully completed with TDD, using Jest/React-Testing-Library. 

Extendable with free Lizard-Spock DLC, to get me thinking about reusable rulesets and typing. Massive overkill for the project, but had a lot of fun building it. No animals were harmed during production 🦎.

Complex dice roll generator for the popular gothic role playing game, Vampire the Masquerade. Using React, TypeScript. Internal logic Unit-tested with Jest.

I am using HTML in nearly every projects, in some shape and form. 

I write a lot of JSX or Vue template, but I have also briefly used server side templating engines as well, like Handlebars, EJS or Pug.

The mark-up language that makes the web look great, important part of almost all websites. Although I prefer writing CSS from scratch for educational purposes, I briefly touched on some frameworks as well, like Material UI and Bootstrap. I especially enjoy writing with SCSS syntax, using BEM convention, or CSS modules for React.

Currently learning Python. Already familiar with the syntax, but no actual projects built yet. 
Next step is to get familiar with the Python way of doing things, gain some real experience, and pick up a few libraries to use. 

Looking into applications as backend APIs, and also social media automation, very interested in Flask and Django.

Version control with Git is part of my regular development workflow, all my own work is committed to my GitHub repository. I use the terminal to interact with Git on a daily basis. 

I am currently working on incorporating Docker into my every day workflow, and make my development process more predictable. Getting comfortable with Dockerfiles, spinning up more complex projects with Docker-Compose, develop with hot reloading, and persist databases with volumes. 

My go to test runner and assertion library for unit and integration tests in JavaScript and TypeScript, front or backend. I mostly use it in conjunction with React Testing Library or Enzyme on the frontend. Since Test Driven Development is the default way I work on my projects, this is a very important part of my development toolbox.

I am most definitely a developer, not a UX designer. At the same time, Figma makes it really easy to create my own project mock-ups, and work on my interfaces visually, before I actually code them. My main passion is code, but I spend plenty of time studying UX/UI fundamentals, and incrementally improve my design skills as well.
